Spring on the Sea of Cortez
Baja Surf Yoga
Imagine, for a moment,
waking up to the soft sound of chimes. You drape yourself in a comfy sweater for the short walk to the yoga shala where your meditation cushion awaits.
After a few moments simply sitting in blissful silence as the sun rises over the Sea of Cortez, you arise again with a clear mind and an open heart. Your coffee awaits. This morning, you’ll enjoy it by the pool, overlooking the ocean.
As the sun warms the air, you return to the yoga shala, this time to roll out your yoga mat. You breathe and move for 90 minutes. You have all the time in the world. You decide to rest longer in savasana before joining the others for breakfast.
After breakfast, the day belongs only to you. The ocean is all yours, the mountains await, and a hammock is calling your name. You get to choose.
As the sun begins to drop behind the hills, you return to deep self-study again. A meditation workshop, a yoga pose breakdown, or an afternoon practice combining the two.
A full day behind you, it’s time to nourish the body in a different way, this time with local, farm-fresh foods. You take your dessert by the fire, joining the others to laugh and reflect upon the day.
This all-inclusive 6-night, 5-day retreat is for those who are ready to explore.

Sara-Mai Conway
Sara-Mai is a yoga and meditation instructor who got her first passport before she even had an official birth certificate. (true story!) Since, she has traveled extensively through Europe, Asia, South America, Mexico and all over the US of A. Always open to new adventures, she learned to ride motorcycles and surf in her 30’s and enjoys these hobbies as an excuse to explore new places.
In 2006, after a successful career as an NCAA Division I rowing coach, Sara-Mai found yoga when looking for new ways to cross-train for her own competitive racing. She was immediately impressed by the athleticism and physical challenge of the practice. Years later, it is the spiritual side of the practice that keeps yoga part of her daily regimen. Sara-Mai’s classes are equally informed by her athleticism and her spiritual studies in Yogic philosophy and Tibetan Buddhism.
Sara-Mai completed a Master’s Degree in Sport Management at the University of San Francisco in 2004 and is a 1999 graduate of Tufts University. She is a certified Experienced 200-hour Yoga Teacher under Yoga Alliance and a certified 500-hour Remedial Yoga and Applied Mindfulness Advanced teacher with Bodhi Yoga Spain under the Independent Yoga Network (UK).
Off the mat, she can be found adventuring throughout Southern Baja and beyond with her husband, Travis, and their two dogs, Sport and Bijou.
